Charming Marbella

The New Broadway

Marbella and La Costa del Sol have always been known for luxury and lifestyle, which attracts quality visitors with high purchasing power. Málaga is currently one of the cities in Spain with the highest range of cultural and museum options, which reflects the fact that so many are betting large on this region.

It was barely a few weeks ago that the news of Antonio Banderas opening a theatre became official. The opening will be in Autumn, supported by big names in the industry. His right-hand man and director of the theatre will be Luis Pasqual.

Projects like Starlite ( ) and sporadic cultural events have been much talked about in recent years, since they gave Marbella yet another point of interest in terms of its entertainment and leisure options. This Autumn, at just 30 minutes from Marbella, the Teatro Soho Caixabank (  will open its doors. This is a project which Antonio Banderas has poured his trust and energy into, to create a space resembling the well-known Broadway. In great timing, since the actor from Málaga received the award for best actor on the 72nd anniversary of Cannes Film Festival ( ), for his lead in Pedro Almodovar’s “Dolor y Gloria” ( )

The Teatro Soho Caixabank seeks to create a new theatrical model in the country, with the support of private sponsors such as La Caixa, and, after various changes, it will take form as a great amphitheater with 900 seats, capacity similar to that of the Teatro Cervantes.

This is further proof that La Costa del Sol continues to move forward, receiving investments from important people who trust in the potential for development of the area.

Pending inauguration is Broadway musical “A Chorus Line” ( ), which the city of Málaga awaits with much expectation. It could become a benchmark for theatre nationally, at a European level, and, thanks to its participants, even globally.
